Air Turkey Boeing 737 MAX-10 and the Farnborough International Air Show 2022

Air Türkiye, on Day One of the Farnborough International Airshow, has made one of the largest orders in the airshow's history. 200 New aircraft have been ordered for Air Türkiye (and Cargo) on Day One already, with another order for TurkJet expected in the next two days. Let's go through the order, shall we?

x40 737-MAX 10: It's been rumored for around 3 months now that Air Turkey is/was in talks with Boeing for the MAX 10, and here we are! First one is expected to arrive in 2025, maybe even 2024?

x6 777-8X-F: The new upgraded variant of the 777F, the 777-8X-F! This will be used on Air Türkiye's longest freight routes, such as to Down Under (Australia and New Zealand) and to South America. First one is expected to arrive in 2026.

x55 A321XLR: Air Türkiye, prior to the airshow, already had 50 of Airbus' NMA solution. However, Air Türkiye after some consideration decided that it would make sense to order more of the aircraft type so that they could take advantage of it even more. 26 of the 55 new orders are converted from Air Türkiye's existing A321neo order. Air Türkiye will be the world's largest A321XLR operator by almost double. The first A321XLR is expected to arrive in early-2024, as has been said before, with the last one expected to be be delivered before the end of the decade.

x30 -100, x25 -300 A220-100/300: Let's group these two together, shall we? Air Türkiye had 35 of the -300 already on order after years of temptation to order. This year, they decided to double down and order not only more of the -300, but also 30 examples of its smaller brother, the A220-100. The first A220-100 is expected to be delivered between late-2023 and early-mid 2024.

x20 A330-900neo: It has finally happened. Years of rumors have come true. Air Türkiye is getting the A330neo. 20 of them, in fact. These will replace many A330ceos currently in the fleet. The first A330-900neo is expected to arrive in 2025/2026.

x7 A350-900ULR: It's official. The rumors are true. Singapore's flag carrier will no longer be the only airline to operate the A350-900ULR.
Air Türkiye has placed an order for 7 of the type and will fly them Down Under and to South America (Huh! Just like the 777-8X-F!). The first one is expected to arrive in 2025.

x5 A350F: Air Türkiye Cargo will operate these 5 A350Fs. The first one is expected to arrive in 2025.

x12 A350-900: Air Türkiye has increased their order of the A350-900 by 12.

In total, Air Türkiye has ordered 200 new planes.

Oh yeah, Air Turkey is now officially Air Türkiye (I may still refer to it as Air Turkey mostly on accident, I will try to use its new name but I can't promise I'll get it right every time).

On 10 June 2022, Air Turkey made the announcement to rebrand as Air Türkiye effective by 20 June that same year. Now what does this mean for the livery?

Well, the livery will still be the same, it's just the name that will change. Firstly, the narrowbody fleet will see the new name. This is because;

A ) They are easier to repaint/retitle.

B ) There are a lot more (new) narrowbodies entering the fleet than the widebodies by a fairly big margin.

Air Türkiye is hoping that the whole fleet will be retitled with the new name by the end of 2027. Retro liveries will be excluded at the moment from this retitling.

So yeah, enjoy the new name!
