Lebanon Airways (Arabic: الخطوط الجوية اللبنانية) (French: Compagnie Aérienne du Liban) is the flag carrier of Lebanon. Founded as Lebanon National Airways in 1946 with a trio of Douglas DC-3 propliners, the company steadily grew throughout the 1950s and 1960s to become one of the premier carriers in the Middle East. Unfortunately, political and military conflict within Lebanon hurt the airline significantly and its operations were curtailed throughout the 1970s and 1980s. During some periods, the carrier had to move a large part of its fleet and crews to nearby Cyprus.

With the end of civil war and a return to relative stability in the early 1990s, the company name was shortened to Lebanon Airways and the airline began to rebuild its network, introducing new Airbus jets to replace its ageing 1960s-era jetliners. Airbus A310s and A300s replaced some of the older 707s, while the 737-200s continued to soldier on until replaced by the A320 family of aircraft. After the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon in 2005, the company began steadily introducing new routes and increasing its market share at Beirut.

Since 2016, the airline has launched a major modernization program with the introduction of the A320neo series and A330neo series of aircraft. Despite the economic turmoil in Lebanon, the company has managed to continue operating at a high level of service and is growing its hub in Beirut to provide connections to destinations throughout the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Looking back at all that Lebanon Airways has weathered in the past, the airline's employees are confident that the carrier will be able to surmount any difficult times that may lie ahead as they continue to operate a great airline hope of a great future for Lebanon.
