Deutsche Hanseatic Airbus A380 "Farewell A380" D-ABMH

On a quiet day in April 2022, the last A380 in Germany started up its engines for its last flight.

In early March of 2022, Hanseatic corporate decided the fate of the last 5 Airbus A380s left on the roster, which had been stored since September 2020, after a brief reprieve operating repatriation flights around the world. With the other 11 aircraft already sold to breakers in various places across Europe, the remaining 5 sat quietly in Munich, wrapped and waiting for the day they may return to service. Unfortunately, that day would not come, and the aircraft would leave one by one, until only one remained.

Finally, early in the morning before the hustle and bustle of the airport began, the Mannheim taxied out for its final departure. DH Flight 380, bearing some special decals designed and applied by the Hanseatic A380 maintenance group, departed and circled around to overfly the airport. Flight 380 then flew to Berlin, and then Frankfurt, completing fly-bys and wing waves. After, it would climb to cruise and proceed to Teruel, Spain, ending the era Airbus A380 "Super Jumbo" in Germany.

The A380 is survived by a small number of 747-400s and the full fleet of 747-8s, with the former scheduled for retirement in 2024.
