In 2019, KMT Air was put under new old management. Cardone Enterprises bought out KMT Air from Fly540 and rebranded into flyswahili.com.

Plans were immediately raised to renew the airline's fleet and reinvent the airline into a low cost carrier. Flyswahili placed orders for ex-American Airlines MD-80s and brought them into service in October, effectively transforming the operations entirely.
