All Japan Airways First Widebodies

By the 1973, All Japan Airways started taking delivery of DC-10s and 747s. With the large capacity of the DC-10-10 and the 747-100SR, AJA could finally adequately address the very high demand for travel between major Japanese cities. This would finally allow AJA to retire all of its propeller aircraft and become an all jet airline in the late 1970s. In addition, the DC-10-30 and the 747-200 were able to replace the DC-8 on AJA's long-haul routes, with the 747-200 being able to fly direct from Tokyo Narita to New York JFK and west coast US cities.

Also at this time, All Japan Airways introduced a logo to put on their plane's tails, making it easier for passengers to recognize AJA's planes. All jet aircraft had their tails painted with this new logo, however, AJA's propeller fleet maintained their pre-merger liveries because they were all retired a few months after the new logo scheme began.

I like the idea but the logo is a bit clip-arty to say the least.
