All Japan Airways Douglas DC-8

All Japan Airways used to be a bunch of smaller airlines before 1968, but merged together to form the flag carrier of Japan. The DC-8 was the first jet aircraft that this new consolidated airline ordered, and it was immediately popular among AJA's customers. The plane immediately started replacing older propeller aircraft on All Japan Airway's longest routes. With the plane's longer range, All Japan Airways could connect many more destinations in North America and Europe to Japan via Anchorage. All Japan Airways operated about a dozen of the super sixty series before they were replaced in the late 1970s.
