Bring Our Birds Home Poster

Bring Our Birds Home is a group campaign that are trying to secure 6 former Air New Zealand/other kiwi airlines' aircraft that are currently located in all different parts of the globe that are in varying conditions. These are the aircraft:

ZK-NBV: 1998 Boeing 747-419 | Air New Zealand | Currently: Stored at Roswell, New Mexico, last operator was Wamos Air as EC-MDS. This one is well known for wearing one of the Lord Of The Rings liveries.

ZK-NZS: 1976 McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 | Air New Zealand | Currently: In a derelict condition and is used as a emergency services trainer at Havana Airport, Cuba. Currently registered as F-GTLY

ZK-NZC: 1965 Douglas DC-8-52 | Air New Zealand | Currently: In derelict condition at Manaus, Brazil. Was used as a freighter and is currently registered as PP-TPC. Ex-TEAL DC-8

ZK-NAD: 1968 Boeing 737-219 | Air New Zealand | Currently: In derelict condition at Laurinburg-Maxton, North Carolina, USA. Also was originally an NAC aircraft.

ZK-CWJ: 1968 Hawker Siddeley HS748-2A-242 | Currently: In Dhaka Bangladesh as a stored freighter. Currently registered as S2-AEE and operated by Bismillah Airlines. Ex-Mount Cook Airline aircraft.

ZK-TEB: 1959 Lockheed L-188C Electra | Air New Zealand | Currently: Used as an aerial firefighting plane by Buffalo Airways of Canada as C-FIJX. Was originally a TEAL aircraft.

BOBH was launched in February 2017 by broadcaster, media artist, and avgeek Paul Brennan. The campaign is to save 6 former Air New Zealand(/other Air New Zealand related airlines') airplanes. All 6 are the last remaining of their type that were actually operated by a kiwi airline. However, while the 747-419 that BOBH is trying to acquire is the last of the original -19 variant of the 744 in a passenger configuration, there is still another 747-419 left in the world, albeit as a converted cargo freighter with Asiana Airlines, so there could be another shot at acquiring an actual ex-Air New Zealand 747.

While BOBH has not yet acquired any of the planes on this poster/the planes that they are/were originally trying to get, they have been successful at acquiring 2 other kiwi airliners. The first is an ex-Eagle Air/Air NEw Zealand Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante ZK-ERU. This plane was perched in the front garden of a museum nearby Cambridge. The plane was sold to BOBH, and thank goodness it was. It would have sadly been scrapped otherwise.
The second plane will be one of the Air Chathams Convair CV-580s. I'm not sure which one it'll be, but here is a video of Paul Brennan interviewing the COO of Air Chathams, Duane Emeny (his dad founded Air Chathams) about this: https://www.facebook...NK-AN_GK0T-GK1C

Progress is being made to acquire the 6 original planes. The plan is to put them on display at the National Transport and Toy Museum in Wanaka, who already have a couple of planes including an ex-Air New Zealand Fokker F27-100 ZK-BXH.

I wish Bring Our Birds Home the best luck possible in acquiring all of these aircraft, and possible even more birds!
