Sounds Air Cessna 208B Grand Caravan

"We'll have you across the Cook Strait before the ferry leaves the harbour"

That was the old and iconic slogan for Picton-based regional airline Sounds Air. You probably haven't really heard about them, except for something that they announced in 2019. Anyway, they began operations in 1988 and are well known for being the main airline that crosses the Cook Strait (Air New Zealand obviously does too, but that isn't their main focus or what they're famous for, unlike Sounds Air's). They have a small fleet, consisting of 4 Cessna Caravans (including 2 Cessna 208B Grand Caravans) and 6 Pilatus PC-12s. In September 2019, Sounds Air became famous for signing letters of intent for Swedish aerospace company Heart Aerospace's ES-19, a fully electric 19 seater prop plane (It looks a little bit like a DHC-7 with its 4 engines and a DHC-8 crossed together). The future of Sounds Air is looking good.
