- Album Makani Air Lines
While the FlyMakani.com brand is known around the Hawaiian Islands for its inter-island services, the brand had long sought to expand its services to outside of the islands. The first attempt came in 2017, with a wet-leased Airbus A330-200 aircraft from French leisure and charter carrier MyFly.com. The aircraft, F-GRSN, retained its French registration and was operated by MyFly crews, but wore the full FlyMakani.com branding for marketing purposes. It was given the nickname "Grace" and configured with 31 first-class recliners and 267 economy class seats. Route the A330 serviced started with Honolulu to Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo, with plans to introduce another A330 and expand services to more cities in 2018. However, even with a low-cost model, the attempt was largely unsuccessful. On the American mainland side, the service was unable to compete with larger mainline carriers, namely Mokupuni, which provided much better service and more comfortable equipment. On the Asian side, tourist interest was overestimated, and the price of Makani's flights was too high to be popular. The aircraft often took off less than half full. After 3 short months, Makani canceled its contract with MyFly to restore fully inter-island operations. The cancellation of the contract was a major loss for MyFly, which went under less than a year later, leaving many of its passengers stranded. At the time of MyFly's collapse, F-GRSN still wore Makani branding, with the airline not having sufficient funds to afford a repaint.

nah yall be driving us out of business too
We could probably make it work in-game tho...create a Hawaiian triopoly by dividing all the routes amongst ourselves and relentlessly fending off all competition, lol
"The first attempt came in 2017...". Is this hinting at things to come?
Nonetheless, this is really beautiful. Didn't think Makani would work so well on the A330.
Shame more punters didn't take a ride - livery suits the 332 nicely
Looks really good, it's a shame the lore is tragic.
lovely!
but you didn't mention Air Hawaii as one of the "larger mainline carriers"
lol, jk
