2005 - 2017 A346

2005 - 2017 A346

The livery that would come to define Himmelbahn's image for much of the first and second decade of the 21st Century was introduced in 2005 to much fanfare. The livery was a sharp departure from the dark greys which had defined the airline for the previous 15 years. The introduction of the lighter red and yellow to the colour pallet led some spotters to nickname this livery the "candybird" or Süßigkeitenvogel. The A340-600 entered Himmelbahn's fleet starting in 2002. They mainly replaced older 747-200s and accelerated the demise of the MD-11s. The aircraft were stored in 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic with only two of the ten of the type operated by Himmelbahn receiving the new livery. Although there is no official plan for the A346 to re-enter service, given the current fleet crunch and the fact that Himmelbahn has already activated some 747-400s to fill in gaps, there is a hope amongst spotters that the -600s might fly for a few more years for the German carrier
[Edit: You know those moments where you look at something for a while and think. Wow I like this. This is done. This was one of those moments and then on upload I noticed that the reg was the same as one of my MD-11s and I forgot the KEF logos and the name was silly so those are all fixed]

    Yes. This is beautiful.

I really like this, but I think the effects are too much and need to be toned down.

    Nice!
