Jugoslovenski Aerotransport (JAT), MD-11 (YU-AMH) - Never Delivered

It's little known, but in 1991 JAT was about to become the launcher customer of the new MD-11. The first of the 3 ordered was going to land in Belgrade by September, 1991; the airline planned to operate up to 8 aircraft until 1995. With the MD-11, JAT had plans to expand routes to Seoul, Tokyo, and Caracas.



However, the non-aligned airline, with a fleet in step with time, had a major blown at the begging of 1991, when hostilities between the Yugoslav republics began to erose and the subsequent war caused the UN to lay sanctions upon the airline. MD-11 orders were canceled and the planes were never built.
