The actual logo - symbolized version of the Palace of Knossos, the main centre of the ancient Minoan civilization.
"Minoan" - One of the first civilizations in the world - mainly based on the island of Crete.

Also, before you ask, Minoan Airways was a real airline, however this is a completely different design - the only similarity will be the name
