The extended range of the 777-200ER and lower seating capacity than the 747 allowed Österflug to further expand their international route network from Vienna, adding new destinations such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, Hong Kong and Tokyo. As of 2021, all 777-200ER airframes have been retired due to incidents involving PW-operated 777s. The airline is currently looking into the 787-9 or A350-900 as a replacement.
