Boeing 767-300ER

UN-B7622

The Boeing 767-300ER was introduced into service with Kazakh Airlines in 1999, the type was set to replace the old Ilyushin IL-86 and the IL-96 aircraft from the fleet, a total of 6 Boeing 767-300ER's entered service operating the companies New York via Kiev & Minsk routes, and formally bringing a complete end to the IL-86 operations, with other Boeing 767's operating the higher yielding routes to Russia and western Europe as well as operating the Almaty to London route. The 767 also brought a reduction to the premium services previously operated by both the IL-86 and IL-96 fleet with the removal of the airlines First Class, operating just a two class configuration, Business Class and Economy Class.

The 767 also allowed Kazakh Airlines to lower its operating costs as pilots could easily operate both the airlines 757 fleet alongside the 767 fleet, making it easier to transition between the types, the other added advantages was the greatly increased efficiency in the 767 over the aging and old IL-86 fleet. Though the 767 did replace a single IL-96 of the two in service, the final IL-96 would be retired in 2002 with both types going on to operate for the government. The IL-86 aircraft would find new homes with emerging Russian airlines.

All examples of the type operated with Kazakh Airlines until 2019 when the final 767 was retired and replaced by newer more fuel efficient and modern long haul airliners, the type was also retrofitted with Wi-Fi and Winglets in the mid-2000's.
