In light of the dispited geopolitical status of the Republic of China (Taiwan), flag carriers based in countries with established diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China could not operate flights to the island under their own names. CAF was no exception, and for a brief period in 1993 the airline operated flights from Paris (CDG) to Taipei via Hong Kong through its charter subsidiary Transeuro (now Transavia France). CAF's intrerest in upgrading its France-Taiwan services to regularly scheduled operations led to the establishment of CAF Asie that same year, with service commencing in 1994. The airline began operations with a pair of Boeing 747-400 Combis acquired from CAF, which in later years would be succeeded by smaller Airbus A340-200s that also operated for its parent.

After CAF's merger with KLM in 2004, CAF Asie ceased passenger flights to Taiwan, though cargo service to the island would continue for a few more years. Improving relations between France, Mainland China, and Taiwan meant CAF Asie's continued existence was no longer warranted, and in 2007 the brand was fully merged into CAF's mainline cargo operations.

would be cool if you made your own take on a dutch airline and merged it with CAF

I may consider doing that in the future but I must say this isn't definite. Want to concentrate on building the CAF brand first, especially since this is a big challenge I'm undertaking all by myself.
