Wright Airways | 1972-1982 | Douglas DC-9-30

Wright Airways was an early operator of the DC-9, using the type to expand its local service routes and connect major airports to secondary airports in the Eastern USA. The airline had started with a mixed fleets of piston and tuboprop aircraft but needed a pure jet in order to provide the level of service expected by customers and solidify its position as an important local service carrier. It proved to be popular with both crews and passengers, and the airline used the type well into the 1990s before replacing it with a mix of MD-80 and MD-90 series jets.
