Himmelbahn D8L 1960-1968

This somewhat short-lived livery was the evolution of the original Himmelbahn livery to suit the more modern frames of the early jet age. The biggest change was a redesign of the bird logo which was simplified and lost its tilt but the typeface was revised as well and the pattern of the coloured stripe was tweaked. This type, the Douglas DC-8 SUPER 62 was the last jet to be delivered new in this livery in 1967 before the introduction of the new livery in '68. The vast majority of Himmelbahn's jet fleet during this period, most of which were various DC-8 iterations, featured some sort of special indicator on the yellow tail space delineating the type of aircraft.
