Aotearoa 747 200

Aotearoa operated the 747 from the early 1970s through to today. The airline decided to unveil this livery at the introduction of the 747-200 in 1975. The type served the airline well, allowing new connections to San Francisco, Mumbai, and Nairobi, later adding Dallas, Las Vegas and Addis Ababa. The 747 upper deck featured something all new; it had four state of the art first class suites each with twin size beds for overnight flights. This idea was very ahead of its time and was eventually scrapped in the late 80s in favor of increasing capacity, only for the idea to have returned on Aotearoa's newest 747-8 and soon the 777X. This aircraft was beloved by all until its retirement in 1996.
