Northern 757/737 poster 2002-2010

At the end of 2002 Northern found itself experiencing some hard times. Although the addition of the Boeing 737-800ng bought the airline a new plane to advertise. Bringing with them a modern livery and logo. On March 10th 2002 a Boeing 757 and Boeing 737 rolled out of one of Northern’s hangars in Chicago to much fanfare. With this new branding the airline also spent time improving their hard product. The airline leaned into the business travel market focusing most of their advertising dollars into advertising to those markets, also bringing a new hub in Houston that would also bring with it the first iteration of the Executive Lounge, A lounge only open to Northern Business passengers out of Houston.

As the years progressed Northern grew. 2004 brought multiple changes. Northern’s first 777-200LR was rolled into service. Bringing Northern access to new destinations around the world. Alongside the 777-200ERs from the Intercontinental merger Northern brought forward a new first class hard product across their 777 and 747 fleet. With this new first class product Northern remodeled their first class lounge in Chicago O’hare airport making it the first of 5 across the continental United States.

In 2006 Northern would buy a 20% stake in Western Pacific. Although it did not turn into a takeover as initially planned Northern wold work hard to preserve the relationship allowing them more connections around the west coast making it so passengers connecting from Northern’s hubs would be able to connect out of Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle instead of just out of Northerns hubs in Denver and Houston. By the time 2008 hit, Northern was smooth sailing working hard to continue to present itself as an elite airline in the United States and around the world. Although when the financial crisis hit Northerns large business travel market slowly started to dwindle for a few months after the crisis causing Northern to lay up on some of their short term projects. Although business soon picked up for the airline during the holiday season. The airline continued to preform well through to 2010.

Thank you to Airplano21 and Bird/Atsuk0 for the great templates :D

Very nice livery and great lore

Love the stripes. Lore is dope as well.

Alright so overall this isn't bad, but to be honest there are a few issues. First of all, the titles are black on the 757 but gray on the 737 - is that deliberate? Or are the effects on the two templates just different?

More importantly, the tail - the way the arrow logo is positioned relative to the stripes is completely different between the two planes. That inconsistency seems like it would become a problem especially with a large fleet like this type of airline would have...so I really recommend figuring out how to keep the positioning more standardized

One of my two favorite North American brands on AE along with (American) Overseas Airways. I still may not have my own airline based in the US but it'll happen eventually...

The first is the template. the second would be answered if you looked at the angles of the tails and saw they wee different. That would push the stripes to be in different positions. To keep the logo a uniform size, it's placement would be off. Also look at real fleets and there is inconsistency across different airframes

So to answer your first question they are both black, Airplano's template has slightly different effects from the 757, as for the logo they are the same size and are in the same spot. It is just the way the tails are shaped makes them kind of end up in different spots.

as for the logo they are the same size and are in the same spot. It is just the way the tails are shaped makes them kind of end up in different spots.

No, I understand why it is. I'm saying it would be good to find a way to fix that, because while this:

look at real fleets and there is inconsistency across different airframes

...may be true, it's usually not as instantly noticeable an inconsistency as this...
