Apart from the five 737-300s taken over from Barbados Caribbean Air in 1989, Jade Air bought one from a bankrupt Central American carrier in 1996, and three from Southeast Airlines 2002-2004. One of these ex-Southeast 737s, VP-CCC, is shown here in Jade Air's 2005 livery. The economic downturn beginning in 2007 (as well as knock-on effects form the crash of a Jade Air MD-88 in 2006) forced the airline to shrink their fleet. All ten MD-81s operated by the carrier were sold, replaced by a smaller number of smaller aircraft - three more 737-300s, all also bought from Southeast Airlines. One of these three, VP-CCF (shown here), was painted in a special livery to promote the beauty of the Caribbean and attempt to increase demand.
Really nice.
