The famed McDonnell Douglas MD-11 began its journey with Air Taiwan in 1992 flying to destinations on the North American west coast and to mainland Europe. Making countless to trips to the likes of San Francisco, Amsterdam, and Zurich, the MD-11 would go on to fly passengers for Air Taiwan until 2001. With the retirement of the passenger variant, many of the MD-11s would go on to fly for other cargo airlines or scrapped. However, Air Taiwan's MD-11s live on through their freighter sister type, the first being delivered in 1992. Acting as the beating heart of Air Taiwan Cargo's operations for nearly three decades, flying alongside the outgoing Boeing 747-200Fs and incoming Boeing 747-400Fs, the MD-11Fs and 747-400Fs will be slowly replaced by the more efficient Boeing 777-200F, which had begun deliveries in late 2020.
