OCEANIC uses the DeHavilland DHC-6-300s for routes within French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Tahiti, the Caribbean, and to the Alps mountain range.

    decent

It works so much better on the props compared to the jets. And I just realized the airline is called Oceanic, but it's French...doesn't sound suitable to me.

It is called Oceanic because it flies only about 60% of the operations from mainland France. The rest are from overseas territories, including but not limited to Tahiti, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, French Guyana, and the French Antilles. Also, roughly 20% of the Paris operations are to overseas destinations.
