Deutsche Hanseatic Boeing 787-9 "Retro MK.1"

In 2017, following delivery of the first few Boeing 787-9s to Hanseatic, The Boeing Company would roll out aircraft number 5 from the paint shop sporting the airlines' first retro livery, after the retro-craze began almost 10 years earlier. Based on the livery worn by aircraft such as the Junkers Ju52 and the Heinkel He111, it's the first livery that any Hanseatic aircraft would ever wear. This look was used by the airline during the period of 1924 when the airline was founded, until 1945 following the end of World War II and the airlines' restructuring.

Wearing the named and registration of an original Deutsche Hanseatic Ju52, D-ABUV is named after Manfred von Richthofen, more commonly known as the Red Baron, a World War I flying ace, often regarded as the "Ace of Aces." UV is the only aircraft in the fleet to be named after a person, rather than a place.

Shortly after the introduction of UV into the Hanseatic fleet, the airline announced that a Junkers Ju52 had been located, with plans to return it to Germany and restore it to flying condition.
