Magavia | 1983-1990 | Antonov An-24

After the retirement of the Ilyushin Il-14 in the 1960s, Magavia turned its focus solely toward international flights and relied primarily on its fleet of jet aircraft. However, in the late 1960s and 1970s a number of Antonov An-24 turboprops were acquired in order to serve some of the destinations in surrounding Eastern Bloc nations such as Yugoslavia and Albania. The aircraft were also used for various other purposes such as VIP transport within Hungary. Eventually, the aircraft were retired in the early 1980s as Magavia standardized its fleet around the Tupolev jets.
