The 90's were a fun period to have an airline. Imagine being able to choose between leasing DC-9-30's, MD-80's, 727-200Adv's or 737-300's and get them for really low rates?
Thank you Yugoslavia, very cool!
One of the airlines that took advantage of this was Syrian Arabian by leasing 4 DC-9-30's from JUAT to finally push out the lingering fleet of Caravelle's, which were a main part of the airlines short-range service for around 20 years. With JUAT desperate to stay afloat, they were finally sold to Syrian Arabian in 1996 for cents on the dollar, where they stayed an important part of the fleet for the next 7 years.
