Omanwings | Boeing 737-900ER | A4O-LC | 2017-present

In the early 2010s, Omanwings started seeing traffic numbers skyrocket. Flights were frequently departing Muscat packed to the brim, and demand was only increasing. In response, Omanwings began increasing utilization of its 737 fleet to historically high levels. Also, as 787s kept arriving, the airline was able to release a few A330s for short-haul flights, somewhat remedying the issue, however it was only a temporary measure. In January 2014, to keep up with ever-increasing demand, Omanwings ordered 12 737-900ERs, to be put into place on higher-demand routes and streamline the network, allowing smaller 737-800s to be freed up for the launch of new routes and frequencies.

The first of the extended-length 737s was delivered in December 2015, entering service on the Muscat - Abu Dhabi route. The 737-900ER fleet was the first (and currently only) fleet to feature the new split scimitar winglets, as well as new interiors that were later fitted onto the rest of the 737 fleet. With demand continuing to increase, the airline placed a top-up order of 3 additional 737-900ERs in November 2018. The last one was delivered in October 2019, being last 737-900ER ever delivered to an airline, as well as the final 737NG delivered to Omanwings, bringing an end to a historical era for the airline.

A4O-LC was delivered on March 28th, 2018, and is configured with 16 Business Class and 168 Economy Class seats. Notably, it was grounded for a short period of time after a ground collision at Amman Airport in 2019, and also happened to operate the last international flight to Oman before the country effectively closed its borders on March 29th 2020, flying OW976 from Istanbul to Muscat.
