Omanwings | Boeing 737-800 | A4O-CF | 2017-present

The 737-800 is the workhorse of the Omanwings fleet. It makes up almost half the fleet, with 26 units in operation. The 737-800 made its debut for Omanwings in 2006, when the airline purchased 5 second-hand aircraft to replace its ageing 737-400 fleet. Impressed by the jet's economics, Omanwings ordered 9 newbuilds, to be delivered from 2008. At its peak the 737-800 fleet numbered 30, however the 5 second-hand aircraft were retired between 2017 and 2019, replaced by the 737 MAX 8. Due to the MAX groundings, Omanwings purchased a second-hand 737-800 to minimize network disruption, in July 2019.

The 737-800 flies routes as short as Muscat to Dubai, and as long as Muscat to Athens in the summer. In many ways, the 737-800 helped shape the airline's network to what it is today, and has been a very important contributor to its successful expansion in the last decade. With over half of the fleet delivered between 2015 and 2018 the type is still very much a new addition for Oman's flag carrier, and has a very long life ahead with it.

A4O-CF was the 27th 737-800 delivered to Omanwings, entering service in July 2017. It's configured with 12 Business Class seats in a 2-2 configuration, with 41'' of pitch, and 144 Economy Class seats in a 3-3 configuration with 31'' of pitch. It is equipped with IFE screens and personal power ports at every seat. With internationa services suspended, however, the jet, along with another 3 737s, has been repurposed to carry essential cargo to and from Oman.
