In 1992, Kirov-Neva Airlines took a large step from its origins as small, regional carrier in Russia's Volga river valley, opting to enter the outsized cargo market with the famous Antonov AN-124. With this addition, the airline would also end it's limited passenger services offered with Yak-40 airplanes and moved it's base of heavy operations to Saint Petersburg-Pulkovo. The Antonov 124 would remain the largest aircraft operated by the type until the 2012 acquisition of the Boeing 747-8F by subsidiary Ilyakin Air Cargo.
The Antonov 124 fleet is comprised of 12 airplanes, with 2 more undergoing conversion to an advanced version. Plans to acquire 4 more aircraft are in the works.
