Vickers VC10-1150

Vickers VC10-1150

CNA's flagship Trans-Atlantic aircraft was the Vickers Super VC10. Fast, quiet, luxurious, and with a certain "British-ness" about it, the aircraft, which were acquired in 1963, held the record for fastest subsonic crossing of the Atlantic ocean.

Canadian National's fleet of VC10s was supplemented by Boeing 707-320/420 aircraft on trans-continental and Caribbean runs. Being the only North American operator to buy VC10s, these jets were popular with the public as well.

They were retired in 1982, and sold to the RAF for conversion into tankers.
