Norskair | 1977 | McDonnell Douglas MD 11

Norskair chose the MD-11 to replace its fleet of DC-10s in the early 1990s, taking delivery of its first example in 1991. However, the impending shutdown of the MD-11 production line due to McDonnell Douglas's acquisition with Boeing, forced the airline to reevaluate its choice. Additionally, the MD-11 did not fully live up to the airline's expectations in terms of range and this led Norskair to make a deal with Airbus in 1995 for the A330.

LN-MCD was delivered in Norskair's bare metal livery used from 1977 to 1995 and was later repainted in the longship livery introduced in 1996. The aircraft remained with the airline until 2006, when it was retired.
