From 1985 TransWest's regional partner Sunaire began utilizing the Saab 340 as its primary regional aircraft, serving small cities in the Mountain West and Pacific Coast regions. Equipped with 36 seats, the Saab was an excellent fit for the challenging operating environment of TransWest's regional network and proved popular among passengers and crews. The Saabs were replaced by regional jets in the mid-2000s.
