Skywind Express is the regional subsidiary for Skywind their small fleet of 20 planes consisting of 10 Q400s and 10 SAAB 340Bs are based up in Edinburgh. There is a regular LHR - EDI service operated by the Q400s while the SAABs mainly operate on routes to the Isle of Man, Belfast City, Glasgow, Southampton, Stornoway and Inverness. The Q400s mainly operate on routes to Luton, Stansted, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Dublin and Belfast. Skywind Express has an order for 10 more Q400s and plans to lease 2 SAAB 2000s as a trial aircraft to see if they are a viable option for the airline. All Skywind Express planes are configured with an all economy cabin.

There has only been one accident involving a Q400 in the Skywind Express fleet this was when G-SNED veered off the runway at Birmingham, while operating as SKE220 EDI-BHX, when tackling high winds on landing and the plane ended up to the left hand side of the runway 33 this caused the aircrafts left main gear to collapse as it dug into the ground destroying the propeller on the NO.2 engine. The Q400 was repaired two months later and returned to service on 9/12/15.
