Starting in early 1990, Global Airlines began to take delivery of Boeing 767-300ERs. The aircraft pictured here, N948GL, was the 8th to be delivered, in 1991. It was also the first 767-300ER to be put on transatlantic service - operating flight 776 to Oslo - as the first seven were only used on domestic hub-to-hub and South American crew training flights. The new 767s featured a completely new service class. Seeing the ever-changing needs of corporate and leisure travelers, Global Airlines decided to introduce Business Class on the 767-300ERs, and slowly retrofit it to other widebodies. With reduced seat pitch and width, but all other seat features kept almost the same as in First, it was an excellent option. The number of Sleeper First seats was reduced, from thirty on the 767-200ER to only 20 on the -300ER. Starting in 1993 Business Class was retrofitted to 767-200ERs and 747-200s (on which Executive First was replaced with Sleeper First in zone A). All new widebody aircraft were delivered with the new First and Business configuration. By the mid-00s, Global Airlines would operate a total of 105 767-300ERs, though starting in 2011 the oldest few would be sold off to other airlines, including N948GL, which was sold to MoscAvia at the age of 20.
