Founded in 1957 by Sir Thomas Chester, British Atlantic Airways operated a fleet of Lockheed L-1049Gs briefly from London Heathrow before moving its hub to Gatwick Airport. The airline focused on high-end transatlantic travellers, flying them in the luxury of Constellations equipped with 52 sleeper seats and onboard lounges to to destinations such as New York, Miami, and the Caribbean. Staying with the propliners as their only fleet type for the better part of a decade - Sir Chester thought of jet aircraft as "loud, expensive technology that will never catch on" - cause BAA to begin losing money in the mid-60s, at which point the carrier was sold to the PerkinsFletcherAllen investment group in 1965. An order for jet aircraft was quickly put in, and British Atlantic Airways received eight Super VC10s between 1966 and 1968. They were all painted in a slightly updated (but mostly same) version of the original livery, substituting gray paint for the Constellations' bare metal.

Note: The L-1049G was already posted in my general album, albeit with a slightly different livery. The main change from that first version is that I combined the metal layer with a gold color to make metallic gold paint.
