Emerald A330-900neo Flying

Emerald A330-900neo Flying

Made a SketchUp model of Emerald's A330-900neo. The base template for the plane isn't mine (don't remember who made it). The model didn't have doors that rendered so that's why there's no doors. Finally, the text looks a little bit thinner because Avenir Bold (not Avenir Heavy) is the only font supported by SketchUp. Rendered with Indigo.

This is an absolute f*cking joke

Looks something straight of that one game for, 9-year-olds.

I think it is Roblox iirc

It looks like Roblox yes...great, now I've got nostalgia for that 737 world or whatever it was called that I used to fly 737s in like 10 years ago.

Anyway, I think the meme-ness of this image is due to the renderer used and the low quality of the original model. Honestly, there's a lot of potential in sketchup for creating high-quality renders (especially with the new cryengine integration), but it does require a lot of effort - for example if the base model has no doors, the doors should be created, not just left there. There's potential in the idea, but the execution falls far short.

Yeah, I honestly agree. The model was kind of a turd. Just thought that the whole concept would be something new and different.

It's not really. Most high quality brands have images of their aircraft in flight simulators.

It's an interesting idea, but my point was that if the model is 'kind of a turd' then you have to actually put in the effort to make it good. Otherwise, the whole thing turns out crap.

The idea behind using Sketchup is an interesting one though. It does give more freedom to control every detail, and has (when using a renderer) quite a few options to fine tune the rendering options. It is however absolutely critical that the person using the Sketchup method puts in the required effort. It needs a lot of work or it won't work well.
