Maori Airways 767-200 (1976 Livery)

This long lived image was introduced in the late 70s and remained until 1995 when the entire image was overhauled, this livery retained the iconic typeface but streamlined the stripes and introduced a new tail design and would appear on a wide array of aircraft including the DC-10 which became the backbone of the long haul fleet and the first 747s which would regularly set out across the Pacific to the USA while making runs to Europe as well.

This 767 arrived brand new from Boeing flying from Seattle to Honolulu and Tahiti before arriving at Auckland, it would be in service with the airline until 1995 when it was sold to the much revered but financially burdened Brasileiro who made desperate attempts to expand into new routes to bolster income although the airline was bleeding money every day of operation. By 1996 the money had run out and the what had once been one of the world's greatest airlines declared bankruptcy and ceased flying.

Although a large portion of Brasileiro's fleet was simply left abandoned around airports at Brazil to rust, the majority of the newer aircraft were sold to other airlines including its entire inventory of 767s. This ex-Maori one ended up in Manchester with Marella Holidays where she flew until 2005 when she was finally retired from flying, she now lives a quiet life in Victorville in the desert still carrying her Marella markings.
