Nordrhein Flug was founded in 1972 in Dusseldorf, operating a fleet of 727s on holiday and charter flights within Europe. Despite the addition of A300B4s in 1977 (most of which were soon sold), the airline's fleet remained based on the 727-200. In the late 1980s, a fleet renewal program saw the introduction of the A320-100 and later the A320-200. D-ANTA is shown here wearing the 1993 livery, which was widely criticized for being too simple and overly different from the airline's previous livery, but stayed in use until 2005. Pictured wearing the new 2005 livery is an A320-214 delivered in 2007. The new brand was more modern, featuring bright colors and an updated titling style. It was part of Nordhrein Flug's efforts to reimagine itself as a German low cost carrier, and remained in use until the airline was purchased by European's German division. D-ANSO was one of the aircraft later transfered to the Dutch division.
