In the crisis following business stagnancy, expansion failure, and Brexit, in April 2018, British Explorer's ownership was moved to a multi-national business group. Internal changes immediately followed.
Early August 2018, two Boeing 787s arrived in BE's headquarter in Manchester. This marks a new expansion effort is underway. The two planes are planned to open BE's first trans-atlantic routes. A move that, according to media, is most ambitious and optimistic.
British Explorer's CEO, Luke Carpenter, announced that the company now run with a new paradigm, and a new livery scheme that totally contrast the old conservative style has been painted on both the new aircraft.
One particular distinction is that each plane is painted with face of famous British explorers on the tail. On the new planes, they are faces of Captain James Cook and Sir Francis Drake. Carpenter also said that more faces of famous explorers of British origin will be painted on the tails of British Explorer's fleet.

Honey, that is royal blue...
this reminds me of the Capitan Cook ships in Sydney Harbor for some reason.
I like it.
this reminds me of the Thomas Cook ships in Sydney Harbor for some reason.
I like it.
Do you mean Captain Cook? Thomas Cook is an airline.
Anyway, thanks.
The first concept was doing a ship's colourway, the white-black-red.
But I thought it looked bad...
Interesting.
The logos and application especially on the tail are well done, dont feel like this really fits an airline though. Especially not with the cubical shape on the skinny 787 tail
You'll explore far with those Rolls-Royce engines...
