The iconic DC-10 would make many airlines prosper through the 70s and 80s. Aerostar was no exception. The DC-10 supplemented the 747 and 707 operations and allowed for the latter to be completely phased out. Meanwhile, the 280+ seat DC-10 would come to be the airliner of choice for transoceanic flights. Aerostar would operate over fifty DC-10s from Germany to China until the last one was retired in 2005. It would be replaced by the 767 and MD-11.
