A Brief History of WAA -- Post-War Expansion

By the war's end, WAA had become Australia's largest airline, capitalising on the huge network that it had built in service of the Australian war effort. In the months after the war, WAA, concerned by the threat posed by the new state-owned Trans Australia Airlines, embarked on another expansion drive, purchasing a number of Douglas DC-4s (pictured) and DC-6Bs, and Vickers Viscounts.
