1959 | 727-100

The 727 revolutionized the airline industry. It was a jet designed for flying passengers a medium range efficiently. The 707's four engines were no match for the efficiency of the 727's three, and the 727 quickly beat orders for the 707 and became the most produced aircraft until it was overtaken by the 737. Aerostar ordered hundreds of 727s in its production era, as it was seemingly designed for Aerostar. 727s quickly appeared on routes everywhere in the West, from Seattle to Dallas to Los Angeles.
The 727 was an interesting design challenge due to the fuselage engines, tail engine, and tail shape. However, Aerostar's designers were able to maintain the integrity of the 1959 livery while adopting it to the 727.
