3. Boeing 747-300 (1990-2002 livery)

Nusantara Indonesian Airlines, at the heights of its international expansion period and being pushed by ever-growing demand in the regional market, was the launch customer for the Boeing 747-300 variant, ordering six with six options, placing its order on June 14th, 1980. Three years later, the first -300 was shown to the public at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, and flew its inaugural scheduled flight to Singapore in October of that year.

While most airlines retired their Boeing 747-300s with the arrival of the Boeing 747-400 in the late 1980s/early 1990s, Nusantara's Boeing 747-300s continued flying with the airline until the mid-2000s, first serving long-haul routes to Europe and Australia, before adding capacity on the Southeast Asia network in the 1990s, and then operating Hajj charters until 2008. The Boeing 747-300 was officially retired on December 30th, 2008, after flying its final Hajj charter from Medinah to Jakarta.

Nusantara's Boeing 747-300s were configured with 41 Business Class seats and 390 Economy Class seats before their retirement.
