1. Douglas DC-8-50 (1957-1973 livery)

Nusantara Indonesia Airlines' first DC-8-50 was received in 1962 to fanfare across Indonesia, being the aircraft that allowed the airline to expand service throughout Asia and Europe. Flights to Amsterdam with jet aircraft began later that year, operating via. Singapore, Bombay and Istanbul. The route was later extended to London, then Frankfurt, Rome and Paris were added to the network, all with different intermediate stops throughout Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

From this, Indonesia's Jet Age was born, and the Nusantara Bird began to cross continents for years to come.
