Nusantara Indonesian Airlines DC-10-30 | PK-ATB

Nusantara Indonesian Airlines DC-10-30 | PK-ATB

Nusantara Indonesian Airlines took delivery of its first DC-10 in 1973, with the aircraft being the first wide body in the airline's fleet. The DC-10s replaced Nusantara's Boeing 707s on flights to Europe and Northeast Asia, adding capacity in a time of growth for aviation in Indonesia. Operating Nusantara's flagship route to Amsterdam, the aircraft could be seen in cities such as Frankfurt and Rome, or in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi and Jeddah, and closer to home in Colombo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The aircraft were gradually taken out of service to Europe when the Boeing 747 was introduced in 1979, however, the aircraft stayed in Nusantara's fleet up until the late 1990s.

PK-ATB was the second DC-10 to be delivered to Nusantara, and was configured with 34 Business Class seats and 256 Economy Class seats.
