3. 737-100

The 737 first came out in 1968. With the DC-9 just below it and the 727 just above it, no one ever could expect the 737 to become the top selling commercial aircraft in history. Eagle had already established a fleet of DC-9 and 727 aircraft but had the choice between the DC-9-40 and 737-100 to order. After weighing in, Eagle chose the 737, starting a 50-year history with the fleet. Over time, Eagle would operate the 737-100. 737-200, 737-300, 737-400, 737-700, 737-800, and 737-900 series in great quantity, with the 737 becoming the main domestic aircraft in the early 90s. Eagle helped the 737 to become the top-seller, ordering and operating over 1,000 of the type over its 50 year history. Eagle ordered thirty 737-100 aircraft.
N925EG was delivered in 1968, the third delivered to Eagle. Ship 925 was a 737-100 and served until 1990 when she was retired at age 22. Until deregulation she was often seen operating on routes such as the New York-Houston run with a configuration of 9 First Class and 75 Coach seats. She was repainted in 1972 and 1983. She is seen in her delivery livery.
