Northern Pacific Airlines | Douglas DC-6 1949-1959 livery

Northern Pacific Airlines | Douglas DC-6 1949-1959 livery

With the end of the 2. World War and airlines popping up left and right in the hometown of Boeing, Seattle, a little airline emerged. In 1949 Northern Pacific Airlines was founded, 98 years after the establishment of Seattle.
Service started on the Seattle-Tacoma International airport which was very young at that point, only 5 years. Although being in Boeing territory Northern Pacifics first aircraft was the DC-4 and after a while the DC-6 joined in.
Nonetheless NPA already talked with Boeing and both companies worked towards future cooperations. It didn't take long for NPA to expand their fleet. Passenger numbers where increasing and so were the routes. The sucess came from being at a location were competition was quite low in comparison to other locations in the USA. Service was one thing that was written on the top of the prioritary list pretty quickly. Employee standards for Northern Pacific were climbing every year. Training expenditure was quite high aswell and Pilots needed a very high qualification before being considered to get employed.
