Zealand Pacific Boeing 747-200 livery 1973-1984

Zealand Pacific Boeing 747-200 livery 1973-1984

Although Zealand Pacific used the DC-10 for most long distance routes there were also routes that they flew with the 747-200 because some routes required a bigger distance than the DC-10 could fly.
The Boeing 747-200s of Zealand Pacifics were named after the lakes of New Zealand. This particular 747-200 was named Taupo. They were also promoted as so called ''pacific liners'' because they primarly flew
routes over the pacific to destinations in North and South America. When they ordered the 747-200 they decided to get the GE engines because they were the same as the ones on their DC-10s which would make
maintanence easier. The 742 was operated until the early to mid 90s when it was replaced by the 747-400. Although the DC-10 was by far the most important plane for Zealand Pacific the 747-200 turned out to be
a good and reliable workhorse for the airline.

Very nice. Would you ever do an interior mock up so we could all see what that would look like?
