Indian Airways 60s livery | Boeing 707-320b

Indian Airways 60s livery | Boeing 707-320b

The dawn of the 60s ment the entry of jets in the Indian Airways fleet. At this point of time jets were still completely new for the civilian aviation and so many passengers werent really comfortable in flying them. Still Indian Airways continued where they left of in the 50s. With the 707 the cabin was improved again and the level of service continued to climb. The seating was embroidered with nice indian patterns and they had very soft and comfy material. The only real problem for many was the noice of the engines but that was quite normal for jets in the 60s. The lack of qualified staff and for the most part qualified pilots was the biggest problem for Indian Airways. Many pilots were still uneducated and made a lot of errors. The problems for the cabin crew were already solved back in the 50s but even there they had a shortage of staff. Often cabin staff had to work overtime because there were just too few people working in the cabin. However the 707 was a big advancement in the Indian Airways fleet and continued to serve Indian Airways untill the end of the 70s.
