Good attempt at metallic paint. But I would refrain from using the metal layer because metallic paint diffuses light differently than actual metal.

I've found that using a color gradient can give a pretty good metallic effect. Also, depending on what program you use to edit images, adding some noise to the layer will create a 'speckled' effect.
