Guardian airlines livery 1971-1982 | Douglas DC 10-10

Guardian airlines livery 1971-1982 | Douglas DC 10-10

The 70s began and Guardian was very excited to get their first DC-10. They were very pleased with DC-9 so they expected a lot from Douglas and their new DC-10. The DC-10 was an aircraft of new size and Guardian fitted a very comfy and spacious cabin. There was also a lounge where passengers could relax and chat. Unfortunately Douglas rushed the design of the cargo doors which lead to the cargo door flying off in flight. This resulted in big accidents. Guardian was affraid that passengers would be in danger and talked to Douglas. They really put pressure on the company to fix the thing and after a lot of discussions Douglas fixed it. Fortunately no Guardian plane was affected by the problem and after the fix Guardian was very pleased with the DC-10. It developed into a reliable bird on which the company relied many years onwards. Douglas and Guardian worked hard together to solve issues and this helped the DC-10.
